How to navigate every format: screen, stage, radio, digital, and live, and build lasting relationships across the industry while doing it.
Few people have built a career as genuinely multidimensional as Andy Trieu β and fewer still have made it look so effortless.
Andy Trieu is a Sydney-based entertainer, presenter, producer, actor, and martial artist who has carved one of the most distinctive multi-platform careers in Australian media. Born in Canberra to Vietnamese parents, he holds a double degree in Business and International Relations from the Australian National University, though the path that followed didn't look much like a business plan.
A three-time Australian Champion Martial Artist in Kung fu and performance swords, Andy's competitive career became an unlikely launchpad into film and television, eventually landing him full-time roles at Channel Nine, Foxtel, and SBS. He served as founding host and content producer of SBS PopAsia for eight years - Australia's biggest Asian pop culture platform, spanning TV, radio, podcast, and in-flight Qantas content, reaching 1.2 million social media followers and completing over 1,000 shows. Named one of the best homegrown TV shows of the decade, PopAsia became a cultural institution, and Andy was at its centre.
On screen, he co-hosted Channel Nine's Kitchen Whiz for 475 episodes across 7 seasons, served as series lead on ABC's Maximum Choppage, Australia's first Kung fu TV series. He has performed martial arts and stunts in blockbuster productions including The Wolverine, Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Hacksaw Ridge. Beyond broadcast, Andy became the face of SW Health's TikTok channel during COVID-19, generating over 8 million views and demonstrating a rare instinct for meeting audiences wherever they are.
He's interviewed BTS, ATEEZ, TWICE, EXO, Oscar-winner Bong Joon Ho, and Simu Liu, and contributed to Triple J's The Hack, ABC RN, The Drum, Eurovision, Sunrise, and more. Andy is also an advocate and ambassador for All Together Now Australia and the National Stroke Foundation.
His philosophy?
"Jack of all trades, master at none - I collaborate with many to create, hopefully, something great."
It's characteristically self-deprecating, and characteristically Andy. What ties it all together is a commitment to authentic work and the hard-won ability to bring others on board with an idea.
