Hi, I’m Ron (or Ronny to my friends) one of the Co-Founders of Mentor Academy. This is the beginning of my journey as someone who shares their thoughts and experiences about the music and creative industry. I’m not going to lie—this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but the thought of sharing anything has been daunting, to say the least. But we have to start somewhere, so here we go.I’m going to use this trope from TV commercials to introduce myself.<ul><li>You might know me as the Dad you met in the park.</li><li>You might know me as Marcia Hines’ tour manager or onstage as her backup singer.</li><li>You might know me from being the former General Manager of the recording studio, Studios 301, in Sydney or the CEO of Abbey Road Institute Australia.</li><li>You might know me as the lead male singer of some of your favourite Sydney corporate bands.</li><li>You might know me as the enthusiastic songwriter you collaborated with in a writing camp a decade ago.</li><li>You might know me from one of the aliases I use to release music, such as Boswell, Ron E Jones, St Christoph &amp; Shaade, Dirty Hary or otherwise.</li></ul>Or, quite frankly, you might not know me at all.I’ve spent more than 20 years in the music industry in various circles and diverse areas. Now, in 2025, in the ever-changing, ever-evolving and ever-challenging music industry, all roads have led me to this one statement.I have more questions than answers.But I’m on a journey to change that, not just for me.I want to use this as the starting point for what comes next.So whether it’s in blog form, video, building a fully-fledged platform, social media, or otherwise—this is my journey.
