Lynley White-Smith has spent over 15 years inside some of Australia's most important creative spaces, not watching the music industry from the outside, but building on partnerships that keep it alive.
She knows how recording studios work, what artists really need,
and how to connect the two in ways that last.
Lynley is a Sydney-based music business consultant, studio operations specialist, and educator whose career spans the Australian recording and creative industry ecosystem. Holding a Master of Arts Management from the Australian Institute of Music, a double bachelor in Marketing and International Relations from the University of South Australia (now Adelaide University), and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, she brings academic rigour and hard-won operational experience that is rare.
Her career began in music retail and marketing coordination at The Muses / Leading Edge Music in South Australia, before she moved into artist management through her own practice Hoodlum & Grace. As manager of hip hop duo Coda Conduct, she negotiated a record deal with Elefant Traks, oversaw booking agent representation through Select Music, sync opportunities via Gaga Music and North Star Media (USA), as well as supporting the act's Triple J high rotation and festival appearances at Groovin' the Moo and Listen Out.
In 2013, Lynley joined Studios 301, one of Australia's most storied professional recording studios, where she would spend a decade in the organisation across leadership roles. Beginning as Mastering Coordinator, she progressed through Mastering and Tenant Manager, Head of Operations, and eventually Head of Partnerships, overseeing a high-volume client base of record labels, management companies, and independent artists. She managed tenancies of leased production studios to artists including RUFUS DU SOL, CHVRCHES, Peking Duk, and Mansionair whilst cultivating brand partnerships with ITV/The Voice, APRA and Women in Music Australia.
In 2020 she curated X-CHANGE Songs, a songwriting camp designed to support underrepresented artists and producers.
Lynley then moved to Abbey Road Institute Australia, the globally licensed music production school, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the school and its domestically registered institute, developed and delivered a 15-week music business course covering copyright and marketing, secured an academic partnership with the Australian Institute of Music, whilst progressing the Global Creative Exchange, a collaboration program linking students and alumni across Sydney, Amsterdam and Johannesburg.
Since 2024, Lynley has been operating through her own consultancy, Miriama Music Consulting, with a client portfolio that speaks to the depth of trust she has built across the industry. At Forbes Street Studios, the Universal Music Australia-owned recording studio in Sydney, she leads business development and events, managing the studio's annual marketing budget and driving new and repeat-client revenue.
Her work delivered the studio's strongest year on record in 2026. Simultaneously, she has been engaged by PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company of Australia) as Studio Research and Project Manager, where she provided research for developing PPCA's first-ever verified database of 200+ NSW recording studios and led a tiered studio outreach campaign across commercial, owner-operated, community, and home studio segments.
She has also delivered community and events work for Liveschool, Sydney's Ableton-based music production school, and is a 2026 BIGSOUND industry guest, appearing on the Making the Master panel.
Lynley has been an ARIA Voting Academy Member since 2018, an MPEG Award Juror in 2025, and a former National Committee Member of Women in Music Australia. She brings to every room she enters a rare combination that music industry professionals spend their careers trying to assemble.
